June air network predicts growth of about 50% in the number of flights compared to May at Florianópolis airport

26th May 2020

The forecast of flights for the month of June at Florianópolis International Airport indicates a more accentuated resumption in the movement of the airport, although the indices remain far from traditional trading for the month. With respect to May, June should register a 54% increase in the number of frequencies at the airport. But, when compared to the same period in 2019, the drop in movement reaches 83%.

The increase in movement is mainly due to 4 factors:

  • Return flights to Congonhas Airport, in São Paulo, which will now have a direct connection 4 times a week, as of June 14th, operated by Gol;
  • Increase in frequencies to Guarulhos, provided by Gol and Latam;
  • The route to Galeão Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, carried out by Gol, will be operated daily, from Monday to Saturday, from the second half of the month;
  • Azul, Latam and Gol will operate with larger aircraft in Florianópolis, providing a 61% increase in the number of seats offered;

Azul maintains 3 weekly flights to Chapecó for June, ensuring a direct connection between the West and the coast of Santa Catarina. Thus, Florianópolis International Airport will have direct frequencies to 5 airports: Congonhas, Viracopos and Guarulhos, in São Paulo; Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro; and Chapeco.

“The numbers show a significant evolution in relation to the beginning of the pandemic, which represents a resumption and a hope of improvement for the market. It is important to reinforce that the Floripa Airport follows strict protocols to ensure a safe structure, some implemented in a pioneering way in the country. Therefore, passengers will find new sanitary procedures, and we count on their collaboration, especially, keeping the minimum distance of 2 meters, sanitizing their hands and using masks ", comments Ricardo Gesse, director general of Floripa Airports.

A Floripa Airport reinforces that it continues to implement all health security protocols at Florianópolis airport, with the measures already mentioned on previous occasions: sanitary barrier at disembarkation, covid-19 tests for disembarked passengers, who present 7 days or more of symptoms of coronavirus; alcohol gel spread throughout the airport; audible distance warnings; row markers indicating a minimum distance of 2 meters; acrylic protection at service counters; intense airport disinfection routine, with cleaning several times a day; and recommendation to wear a mask for all passengers.
