Number of flights at Florianópolis International Airport grows 84% in July

26 jun 2020

The movement at Florianópolis International Airport follows the growth trend already observed in previous months, and the forecast for July is 642 operations, an increase of 84% compared to the previous month.

All these flights together represent around 109 thousand seats, practically double the capacity offered in the previous month, which was approximately 55 thousand.

“The recovery is expressive and important, but still far from the traditional movement for the month. We are 72% below the number of flights expected for July. And if we also take into account that our terminal has a capacity for 8 million passengers a year, which is twice the number of passengers we received before the pandemic, then, surely, we have room to grow very calmly. For those who are going to travel, we guarantee that all preventive care in relation to the coronavirus is being taken”, comments Ricardo Gesse, General Director of Floripa Airports.

The main highlight of next month's air network is Gol's debut on the Florianópolis - Brasília route, with 3 weekly frequencies (three flights in each direction of the route). With this, the city has a direct flight back to the federal capital. The start of this operation is scheduled for the 8th. In addition to Brasília, Gol continues to operate flights from Monday to Saturday to RIOgaleão and has also expanded its options for frequencies and schedules to Guarulhos.

Another positive point is the resumption by Latam of flights to Congonhas Airport, in São Paulo, with 10 weekly frequencies - there will be 2 daily flights in each direction from Monday to Friday. Latam will also expand the schedule options for Guarulhos.

Azul continues with 3 weekly frequencies to Chapecó and offers new schedules to Viracopos, also in São Paulo.

In this way, Florianópolis International Airport now has direct flights to 4 destinations: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Chapecó and Brasília.
