Last night, Gol Linhas Aéreas debuted a new route in Florianopolis International Airport. At around 23:30 pm, an aircraft from Brasília landed in the capital of Santa Catarina. The FLN-BSB frequency had not yet been operated by Gol.
In aviation tradition, a maiden flight is greeted with a baptism ritual. Yesterday, in Florianópolis, the greeting was in a different way. Due to the drought in Santa Catarina, the Floripa Airport, the concessionaire of the Florianópolis airport, decided not to do the usual Water Salute, a ritual that consists of forming an arc of water over the aircraft. The concessionaire carried out the Light Salute, with light cannons. Baptism with light was only possible because the operation at the airport is reduced, due to the pandemic.
The Florianópolis - Brasília route will be operated 3 times a week by Gol:
- Arrivals at 23:05: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
- Departures at 06:05 am: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
About Florianopolis International Airport
Florianópolis International Airport has been operated since January 2018 by Floripa Airport, a subsidiary of the Zurich Airport group, which holds the airport concession for 30 years.
In October 2019, the concessionaire opened an entirely new terminal - it is not an expansion or renovation of the old terminal -, four times larger than the previous one. In less than a year of operation, the new airport in Florianópolis has already been elected the best in Brazil, in a survey carried out among the 20 main airports in the country, carried out with passengers, by the Federal Government.
