New route! Florianópolis debuts flight to Santos Dumont Airport, in Rio de Janeiro

30 oct 2020

This Friday afternoon (the 30th), Florianópolis International Airport (FLN) received the first flight of the new regular route, which connects the capital of Santa Catarina and Santos Dumont Airport (SDU), in Rio de Janeiro.

The route will be operated by Gol 4 times a week in November. Starting in December, there will be 6 weekly flights, continuing after the summer season, throughout 2021. This is the first time that Florianópolis has a regular flight to Santos Dumont Airport. Before, the direct connection with the central terminal of Rio de Janeiro was only during the season.

Gol's Boeing 737-800 was received with water salute, the traditional baptism of aviation for new routes or new airlines. Passengers were also surprised when they disembarked, with the right to bossa nova music and welcome souvenirs on the baggage carousel.

“Connecting Florianópolis to Santos Dumont, on a regular basis, has always been one of our goals. Santos Dumont is a central airport in Rio, quick access to the most sought after neighborhoods by visitors, such as Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana. In addition, of course, to serving the business passenger - it's like Congonhas in São Paulo. Our studies show that we have enough demand to support routes to Galeão and Santos Dumont, they complement each other” analyzes Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Florianópolis, Vitória and Macaé airports.
