JetSMART starts sales of two routes in Florianópolis

01 Aug 2023

JetSMART Airlines announces today the start of sales of two new routes linking Brazil to South America, connecting Florianópolis to Santiago and Buenos Aires. Flights on these new routes begin on November 30th to Buenos Aires and on December 27th to Santiago, both with three weekly frequencies that expect to transport more than 92.000 people in their first year of operation between the terminals of the International Airport of Florianópolis and the Airports Buenos Aires International – Ezeiza and Arturo Merino Benitez, in Santiago.

As of now, JetSMART has a total of 7 international routes in Brazil. In addition to the two routes that are being launched today, the company already connects Brazil directly with Chile, Argentina and Uruguay through 5 routes: Foz do Iguaçu to Santiago, São Paulo to Santiago and Rio de Janeiro to Santiago, Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

These new SMART-type routes, which allow you to go from one city to another without the need to stop in the country's capital, will allow Brazilians to travel from Florianópolis to Santiago or Buenos Aires in approximately two and a half hours, on direct flights, in a completely safe and affordable way to enjoy its natural, cultural and gastronomic tourist attractions: from attending a tango show in Buenos Aires, to taking advantage of all the gastronomic and attractive potential of the city, as well as visiting vineyards on the outskirts of Santiago, its Sky centers in winter and trekking activities in the hills of Chile

Víctor Mejía, CCO of JetSMART Airlines, states that "in just seven years, the airline has achieved a significant development in its offer of flights throughout the region and continues to expand its plans throughout South America, incorporating new aircraft in its fleet , to continue offering an efficient operation, with more accessible destinations and routes”.

Regarding the new routes in Brazil, Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of JetSMART, says: “Since the beginning, we have innovated in the sector with ultra-low fares and new routes. We are the fastest growing airline in South America and we anticipate that these launches will help us achieve our vision of reaching 100 million passengers and 100 aircraft by 2028.”

“The arrival of JetSMART demonstrates the strategic position of Florianópolis airport for flights from the southern cone. We have a privileged geographic position in the State, close to the North and South regions, two economic centers in Santa Catarina; we are the capital's airport with the best infrastructure for international flights”, says Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brasil.

The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, points out that "our partnership with JetSMART made it possible to launch these new flights, which expand our connection with Chile and Argentina, very important neighboring countries for Brazil. We expand tourism, strengthen our cultural ties in the integration between peoples, and we open even more the door for scientific exchange and for the emergence of new businesses between the companies of the three countries”

JetSMART, the leading low-cost airline in Latin America, offers highly convenient prices for these routes, with fares starting at R$149,00 reais per leg, plus taxes of R$83,00 reais, totaling R$231,00. 331,00 reais per way for the flight from Florianópolis to Buenos Aires. Likewise, in the case of the flight from Florianópolis to Santiago, the total cost per segment, including taxes, is R$ XNUMX reais. These new travel options offer an exceptional opportunity for passengers to discover unique destinations without breaking the bank.

Currently, JetSMART has 20 international routes in seven countries in South America: Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, with a total network of 76 routes throughout the region. The ultra-low-cost airline of the Indigo Partners group has a regional fleet of 25 aircraft, all Airbus A320 and A321 with CEO and NEO technology, and Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, which help save up to 25% on fuel. This improvement, added to the new Sharklets, the new configuration of the cabin and the use of the lightest seats on the market, developed with materials reused from other industries, allow for a reduction in emissions by more than 25% per seat. This is equivalent to stopping the emission of more than 12.000 tons of CO2 per plane per year, that is, the equivalent of what 200.000 trees absorb over a period of 10 years, confirming JetSMART's commitment to the development of a more sustainable aeronautical industry.
