Florianópolis Airport gains two new international destinations: Lima and Montevideo

31 Aug 2023

Florianópolis International Airport gains important reinforcement in its growing trajectory of internationalization of destinations. For the first time in the history of Santa Catarina, a route will connect the state capital, Florianópolis, to Lima, the capital of Peru. The state will also have a flight to Montevideo, Uruguay.

The route will be operated by the Chilean airline SKY. The flight departs from Florianópolis, makes a stop in Montevideo and then goes directly to Lima, keeping the same aircraft. The frequency will be three times a week, from January 2, 2024, and ticket sales start this Thursday (31/08). The new regular route is part of the lowcost SKY expansion strategy in Latin America, which becomes the foreign airline with the most flights in the State of Santa Catarina.

“The arrival of two new international destinations, one of them unprecedented in the state, reinforces our important partnership with SKY, which pioneered an unprecedented and successful route to Santiago de Chile in Florianópolis. The new options demonstrate the potential of the airport to become a hub in South America. With these flights, we will offer a total of 7 international destinations during the high season” says Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brasil.

In 2022, SKY began operating regularly in Florianópolis, with weekly flights to Santiago de Chile. Prior to that, Florianópolis had only one regular international route, Buenos Aires, operated by an airline.
“We are happy to continue growing in the region, as this will allow more passengers to connect to the network of more than 40 destinations operated by SKY in America. The purpose of this bet is to put the sky within everyone's reach so that our company becomes the preferred low cost airline in Latin America”, said José Ignacio Dougnac, CEO of SKY Airline.

The Brazilian International Tourism Promotion Agency (Embratur) is SKY's partner in publicizing these flights. “SKY is our partnership in connecting Latin America to Brazil and allowing cultural and economic exchange between peoples, with competitive prices. Florianópolis is a consolidated destination on the continent, and this new flight will allow Peruvians to experience the beauty of the coast of Santa Catarina”, said Marcelo Freixo, president of Embratur.

The sale of tickets, which started today, will have the following promotional launch rates, which will be applied until September 8, 2023:
o    Florianópolis – Montevideo (round trip): from BRL 930, for trips between January 2 and March 31, 2024
o    Florianópolis – Lima – via Montevideo (round trip): from BRL 1.604, for trips between January 2 and March 31, 2024
