Florianópolis International Airport starts operating essential air network

30 Tues 2020

Defined between the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), airports and the airlines Azul, Gol and Latam, the essential air network for the entire Brazilian territory came into force on Saturday (28/03) and continues throughout the month of April. With the measure, Florianópolis International Airport will have up to 5 take-offs and 5 landings per day, a movement 87,5% lower than the average for the period, which is 80 daily flights.

The three airlines - Azul, Gol and Latam - continue to operate at Florianópolis International Airport. But the destination will be only 1: São Paulo, with flights, mostly, to the airports of Guarulhos and Viracopos. International flights, which at this time of year are usually to Argentina, are also suspended.

The busiest day at Florianópolis airport will be Monday, with a forecast of 5 landings and 5 take-offs. On Saturdays and Sundays, Florianópolis Airport will have only 2 departures and 2 landings.

ANAC's objective with the implementation of the essential air network is to ensure that no Brazilian state is left without an air connection during the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to the capitals of the 26 states and the Federal District, another 19 cities in the country will be served. The busiest region is the Southeast, with 723 weekly frequencies. The South region is in second place, with 155 flights per week. In total, 1.241 flights will be operated per week in the country, a volume 91,61% lower for the period.

The essential air network may undergo occasional changes, according to demands. THE Floripa Airport reinforces that passengers with flights scheduled for this period seek, by phone or digital channels, the respective airline to adapt to the essential network.
