Florianópolis International Airport resumes direct flight to Chapecó

Florianópolis International Airport resumes direct flight to Chapecó

11th May 2020

A Floripa Airport informs that, as of this Monday (11/5), Florianópolis International Airport will once again have direct flights to Serafim Enoss Bertaso Airport, in Chapecó, in western Santa Catarina. The resumption of the essential service, which connects the West and the coast of Santa Catarina more quickly and safely, is important for those who need to travel in this phase of facing the coronavirus.

There will be 3 weekly frequencies, operated by the Azul airline:

  • Weekdays: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

  • Departure from Florianópolis: 11:35 am, arriving in Chapecó at 12:40 pm

  • Departure from Chapecó: 15:40, arriving in Florianópolis at 16:45

The new frequency represents a recovery of regional aviation, guaranteeing Santa Catarina a more convenient option - just 1 hour of travel - for those who need to travel.

“We are pleased to have a link back from the Capital to the west of the state. This is another option for passengers who need to get around quickly and safely", comments Ricardo Gesse, general director of Floripa Airports.

SECURITY

on the aircraft

To ensure greater safety during the trip, there are a series of measures on the aircraft that must be followed by passengers:

  • it is mandatory to wear personal masks throughout the trip, for customers and crew;

  • aircraft are cleaned with each new flight;

  • aircraft have a so-called high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter, which renews cabin air every 2 or 3 minutes.

In the airport

A Floripa Airport has adopted a series of security measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus:

  • Alcohol gel is available throughout the airport;

  • We recommend that passengers check in online to avoid queues;

  • There are line markers with a minimum distance of 1,5m;

  • Upon landing in Florianópolis, passengers pass through a sanitary barrier with temperature measurement and filling in a form from the Municipal Health Surveillance;

  • Symptomatic passengers can be tested for COVID-19 at the airport;

  • There are acrylic protections at the service counters;

  • Rigorous cleaning routine several times a day.

In addition to the new Florianópolis/Chapecó frequency, Azul expanded flights between the capital of Santa Catarina and Viracopos, in São Paulo. With the new flights, the Floripa Airport estimates that traffic in May at Florianópolis airport will be 46,7% higher than in April, with a total of 245 scheduled flights against 167 in the previous month. Still, the movement is 89% lower than the regular average for the period.

A Floripa Airport reinforces that flights may change and that, in this case, passengers should look for the airline.
