Airplane and race tracks. The Hercílio Luz International Airport, in Florianópolis, had a different and unprecedented movement this Saturday night (29). There were 1,2 runners who participated in the first edition of Night Run Floripa Airport. The night race had 5 km and 10 km races in courses inside the Floripa Airport, with routes along the service road, in the courtyard and runway area, used by planes. An experience that combined sport with the full experience of immersion in services for airport travelers.

Among the 1,2 athletes, there were those who took advantage of the unique opportunity to run on flat asphalt and get to know the Floripa Airport up close and in an innovative way. But there were also those who took the opportunity to fly on the runway. The 5 km race had as winners Graziella Klempous and Carlos Augusto Costa Fernandes, who conquered the highest place on the podium with times of 20m26 and 17m00, respectively. In the 10 km, the victories went to Júlia Krueger Romariz and Ojanio dos Santos, who overcame the route, passing in front of the old passenger terminal, in 42m00 and 32m07, respectively. 

“It was a perfect race. Very good route. all flat and on asphalt. During the journey we found attentive staff and the signage was very good. The organization deserves congratulations for the event”, said the winner of the 10 km, Ojanio dos Santos. 

The first edition of Night Run Floripa Airport reinforces the participation of the airport in the life of Florianópolis. Known for its various leisure and entertainment options, as of this Saturday (29) it is also consolidating itself as a place for sports. 

“A great event, which proves our vocation to be more than an airport and be part of the life of the city. Our wish is that it was an incredible experience for the participants and partners", says the airport's CEO, Ricardo Gesse. 

Great movement in Floripa Airport
Still in the late afternoon of this Saturday (29) the movement began at the International Airport Hercílio Luz, in Florianópolis. Athletes found different activities on Boulevard 14/32 before heading to the boarding area. All registrants received a boarding pass and passed through the inspection area. Part of the hall where the boarding gates are located offered participants different activations. Among them, a table with food, to give that energy before the race, and a space with bicycles, for warming up before the race. 

Minutes before the start, the athletes were called at one of the boarding terminal gates to go down to the track, where the race start gate was located. The 1,2 runners faced their journeys along the service road, in the courtyard and runway area, used by airplanes. The race courses skirt the landing and take-off tracks. In the 10 km race, the athletes passed in front of the old passenger terminal. After crossing the finish line, participants headed to the baggage claim area to receive their participation medal. 

“I loved the experience of running at night at the airport. I loved running in this place that I love. Everything was perfect, a different experience. I will definitely be at the next edition of this event”, said athlete Sheila Gadotti, from Florianópolis, right after crossing the finish line and completing her personal challenge. 

Afterwards, all participants joined the fraternization among the runners in a big party on Boulevard 14/32, with live shows and different activities in activations of event partners. The closing was due to the award ceremony of the races. The first three overall in the 5 km and 10 km, male and female, and also for the categories by age group in both distances received trophies. 

“It was the grand finale of an experience that began on Thursday, with the withdrawal of kits from the athletes in the area at the airline counters. Since that contact, all participants' actions were linked to the routine that involves a trip, with running as the central point", summarizes Matheus Corazza, director of Match Sports, a partner company of Floripa Airport in holding the event. 

The Night Run Floripa Airport was a realization of Floripa Airport and Match Sports. The sporting event was presented by Michelob Ultra and was sponsored by Hospital Baía Sul, Supermercados Imperatriz Gourmet and CDL Florianópolis, through Núcleo de Esporte e Saúde.
